CONNECT COINBASE.

Enable real-time data from your account.

← All Brokers

Set up Coinbase to enable read-only real-time data and positions from your account. Three steps: generate a read-only API key, copy your credentials, and authorize on AI Navigator.

System Requirements

Before You Start

Coinbase account: an active account with verified identity.

API access: your Coinbase account must have API access enabled.

AI Navigator subscription: any MKT.TRADE tier to access the authorization page.

Step 1: Generate a Read-Only API Key

Create a read-only API key in the CDP (Coinbase Developer Platform). This key allows AI Navigator to access your account data securely.

Log into Coinbase

Go to coinbase.com and log in with your email and password.

Go to the Advanced section

In Coinbase, navigate to the Advanced section.

Click the See More menu

On the left-hand sidebar, click See More.

Select Advanced API

From the menu, click Advanced API.

Generate a new API key

Click Create API Key. The Create API Key form opens.

Name your API key

In the API key nickname field, enter a descriptive name (e.g., "AI Navigator").

Select your portfolio

In the Portfolio dropdown, select the portfolio you want to connect.

Set permissions to read-only

Check only the View (read-only) checkbox. Leave all other permissions unchecked.

Leave the IP whitelist blank

Leave the IP whitelist field empty. Default signature algorithm settings are fine.

Create and download your key

Click Create & download. Coinbase displays your credentials — save them securely for the next step.

Step 2: Save Your API Credentials

Copy your Coinbase API credentials. You'll need them to authorize AI Navigator.

Gather your credentials

After creating your API key, Coinbase displays two pieces of information:

  • API Key Name (the organizations/... field)
  • EC Private Key (PEM) (including the BEGIN and END lines)

Save both securely. You'll paste them into AI Navigator next.

Step 3: Authorize on AI Navigator

Connect to AI Navigator through Claude. An OAuth authorization prompt will appear with your broker connection fields.

Go to Claude Connectors

In Claude, navigate to your Connectors section.

Connect to AI Navigator

Click to connect to AI Navigator. An OAuth authorization form appears.

Enable live brokerage account data

At the bottom of the form, check the box for Live brokerage account data (read-only).

Select your broker

In the Broker dropdown, select Coinbase.

Enter your API Key Name

Paste your API Key Name from Step 2 (the organizations/... field) into the API Key Name field.

Enter your EC Private Key

Paste your full private key from Step 2, including the BEGIN and END lines, into the EC Private Key (PEM) field.

Complete authorization

Click AUTHORIZE. Once complete, AI Navigator begins pulling real-time data from your Coinbase account immediately.

What Happens Next

Once connected, your Coinbase account data flows through AI Navigator. You'll see real-time data, account balances, and positions across all your watched instruments — updated continuously.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Why do I need a read-only API key?

A read-only (View) key lets AI Navigator access your account data and positions without the ability to execute trades or move funds. This keeps your account safe while enabling real-time data.

Where do I find my API credentials?

Log into Coinbase, go to AdvancedSee MoreAdvanced API. When you create an API key, Coinbase displays your API Key Name and EC Private Key (PEM). Copy both and save them securely.

How do I know if my connection is active?

After authorizing, you should see real-time data updates within a few seconds. If not, verify your API key is still active with read-only permissions enabled in Coinbase.

How often does the data update?

Data syncs continuously, 24/7/365. Coinbase operates around the clock, so you always see the most recent balances and market data available.

What if my API credentials are revoked?

If your credentials are revoked or deleted, the connection stops working. Generate a new API key in Coinbase and re-authorize on AI Navigator.

Do you store my API credentials?

Yes — AI Navigator encrypts and stores your Coinbase API Key Name and EC Private Key so data can stream continuously. Your credentials are encrypted and vaulted securely.

Do I need both API permissions and a read-only key?

In Coinbase, you create an API key with read-only (View) permissions. In the AI Navigator OAuth form, you then enable "Live brokerage account data (read-only)" to pull that data securely without trading access.
